About us
The company - Bali Universal Diving is a new company, of Indonesian and Australian joint ownership. Abi Setyada, a partner in the company, is the operations director in Bali. Abi, originally from Surabaya in Jakarta, has been living and working the diving industry in Bali for the last 20 years. In his time here, he has been a dive master for several of the other best known Dive companies in Bali. He has connections in every area of Bali, and enjoys good relations with all of the local villagers and dive communities. The Australian partners are Paul Bason and Emma Lane. They shared Abi's dream to create a dive operation, with an emphasis on conservation and with a mind to help improve the education and employment prospects of the people in Bali's more rural areas.
Our goals and aims - are to make your dive an enjoyable, interesting, educational experience, with an emphasis on safety first. Our friendly, knowledgeable dive masters will always do their best to undertake any special requests you may have throughout your trip, answer any questions you may have, and take you on the dives that you wish to make, provided they are within each clients' ability, and conditions are safe. We aim to introduce our clients to environmentally sound diving, but we also wish them to experience an authentic Balinese experience, and make their holiday a truly memorable trip. We also cater for clients wanting to go snorkelling at suitable locations here in Bali.
Our locations - Bali Universal Diving operates from two locations in Bali. The main centre is to be found in a convenient location in Seminyak, home to many of the international community in Bali, but only 15 minutes drive from the heart of Kuta. Our other dive centre is located at the Gowana Novus resort close to Menjangan Island in Bali's more remote North Western tip, approximately two and a half hours from the airport.
Our service - Clients are picked up from their accommodation here in Bali, supply all necessary equipment for their trip, and return them to their accommodation. For trips of more than one day, we arrange overnight accommodation at or near the dive sites. We can offer accommodation to suit each clients' budget. We have diving packages for 1-3 days duration, and we can also take clients on dive safaris of any duration, including visits to sites of natural beauty, cultural centres and other non-diving activities, tailored to the clients needs and desires. We have links with MBC travel agency here in Bali, and can take care of all travel, accommodation, dive and activity requests from airport pick-up on arrival to airport drop-off at the end of your holiday, for those clients not wanting the problem of making their own arrangements. Contact us for your requests, and we create and price an itinerary for your.
The Instructors - We currently have 3 instructors working full-time, and others on whom we may call when required.
Abi Setyada - our operations manager, but also our top dive instructor and dive guide. Abi has over 20years experience in the diving industry,
many of them here in Bali. He holds a commercial divers
licence, having worked in difficult conditions for off-shore oil
operations. He is also licenced to make hull inspections for
pleasure craft or commercial vessels. He is married with two
young children and lives in Jimbaran Bay.
Abi has so much experience of diving in Bali. He is familiar
with all of the dive sites that we visit. He has a
comprehensive knowledge of the sites and the differing conditions of each.
Abi speaks fluent English, and can get by with his German vocabulary. He loves to dive as much today as he ever has. For that reason, he will very probably be your guide/instructor on your visit if he is not already booked for that period. His knowledge of local culture, tradition, and geography will entertain you on any drives taking you to and from your dive sites. He is well known throughout the villages in the diving areas. He will make sure that you are well looked after during your stay in Bali.
Made - Always ready with a big smile, Made is from the
Kubu/Tulamben area. He loves to dive, having 10 years
experience in the industry, and is familiar with some of
the lesser known dive sites in Bali. He speaks English
but also has a little knowldge of Japanese and German.
His other passions are motor cycle riding, and fishing.
Catch him in the Tulamben area, and if you enjoy fishing,
he might take you out to try your luck.
Jamal - Works for Bali Universal on a part-time basis. He is a Dive instructor with many years experience, lives in Sanur with his family and speaks fluent Japanese and English.
Komang - is our permanent dive guide at our
centre at Gawana Novus resort close to
menjangan Island. He has a young family and
lives in the area. His extensive knowledge of
the local dive-sites and conditions make him a
valuable asset up in the North West of Bali. |
